LAKE
HURON CLEARWELL TANK
In
September 1999, Dan's Excavating, Inc. (DEI), began work on a new clearwell for
the Detroit Water and Sewer Department (DWSD) located in Port Huron,
Michigan.
With time and money being a factor, DWSD decided a
design/build project would best accommodate their needs. Elgen
Builders Inc. took on the role as prime contractor. Due to the
reputation of DEI completing complex projects ahead
of schedule and under budget, along with the excellent repose DEI has
with many owners, developers and municipalities, it was no surprise we
were recommended to Elgen Builders, Inc. by DWSD for this project.
Along
with assisting in the design of this project, Dan's Excavating, Inc. had
three primary objectives:
-
Move 200,000 cubic yards of material resulting in an excavation
of an area with a diameter of 434 feet and a depth of 36 feet, in a four-week time period.
-
Construct three new junction chambers.
-
Construct an 1,100 foot, 19' x 22' concrete box
culvert.
The total contract price for this project is $36,000,000.00.
At
DEI, we commit ourselves to excellence, extending
from management throughout our crews in the field. This commitment
enables Dan's Excavating, Inc. to bring to the table a desire to build a
premium project, which is both pleasing to the general public and the
owner. These qualities are what set us apart from our competition.
